The struggle with Identity and Passion

Does a passion define an individual? Does the individual shape the passions? Perhaps the individual and the passion are both gifts from God. Perhaps God's gift is simply life and the ability to choose and the rest of the following of the individual. Is my enjoyment of guitar playing and music a God given entity or is it simply a gift allowed by God?
